Time Traveling, Rebuilding the Notre Dame & the inside of a Huawei P30 // ICYMI - Week #16 Update??
?Hi folks,
I crawled the web last week and found some digital diamonds along the way. Enjoy this new ICYMI update mail, packed with all new digital treasures.
WEEK #16 - APRIL 2019
// Games for good // The world watched in horror when the Notre Dame was burning last week. When the flames were extinguished and money started flooding in, talks about restoration came up. But how to restore such a monumental building in its original glory? Rumour has it that it's games like Assasins Creed: Unity that will help rebuild the Notre Dame. The level of detail that went in the digital version of the Notre Dame in this game is very, very impressive and will help to get a clear picture of how to rebuild this famous landmark.
// Button bashing @ home // Nintendo was the first with their Nintendo NES Classic, followed by Playstation with their Playstation Classic and just recently Sega announced their Sega Genesis. And now, as fourth to arrive at the party, Capcom is releasing a flashback console in the form of a plug-and-play home arcade machine, called Capcom Home Arcade.
// Classy Electric Beast // I think we can all agree that Tesla is the uncrowned king of classy electric cars, right?! Well, in comes the competition. Aston Martin just revealed their first ever all-electric car, and it looks stunning. And what do you think about this teaser for the new Lotus type 130? Is it enough to get Electric Elon nervous?
// Time Traveling // Time travel has always been an interesting subject since it (still) belongs to the realm of fantasies. That also makes it a very suitable subject for movies & series. Netflix took this opportunity and just launched the trailer for the new movie "See You Yesterday", directed by Stefon Bristol and produced by Spike Lee. The new movie will be released may 17, on Netflix (obviously).
// P30 Periscope Phone // Have you seen the new Huawei P30 Pro yet? It's quite an impressive piece of hardware. Maybe even the best on the market right now. One of the greatest features of this new phone is the periscope camera. It has a 5x optical & 50x digital zoom, which is pretty cool. But what's even cooler is the periscope mechanism that facilitates this neat camera performance. Watch Zach Nelson take the entire Huawei P30 Pro apart and be amazed by the nifty tech that's inside.
// Earth Day // Yesterday was Earth Day, a day to celebrate our planet and take a moment to contemplate on how earth is doing (let's say it could/should be better). A lot of parties took this day to do something special. Check out the Google Doodle for this Earth Day, for instance. You'll explore the earth from the highest sky down to the deepest cave, finding impressive flora and fauna along the way. Rapper/Comedian Lil Dicky decided to devote a song and video clip to Earth Day. I don't know about the actual song (not really my cup of tea), but the song and clip are packed with celebrities (Justing Bieber, Ariana Grande, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dog, Leonardo Di Caprio and many more), playing their part in the happy & slightly weird animated clip.
// Epic Movie Trailer // I have to admit that I stopped watching the Fast & The Furious movies after the Tokyo Drift one. Couldn't appreciate what they had done to the original feel of the movies. But, this new trailer for Fast & The Furious: Hobbs & Shaw might just change my mind. This one has it all: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham as a power couple, Helen Mirren, a genetically enhanced Idris Alba, over the top CGI action, an action packed 3 and a half minute long trailer and of course some very cheesy, silly jokes and punchlines. Honestly, this one made me laugh.
Oh, and yesterday marked the 30th birthday of the Nintendo Game Boy ??. Yay! Congrats old pal! (oh wait, if he's and old pal, that makes me...)
That's it for this week. Hope you enjoyed this one. Feel free to share and spread the love.
Cheers,
Oscar
