Time & Tradeoffs

Whenever I say that I don’t have enough time, I remind myself of a point I have iterated on of my previous blog posts:

I found myself in a dilemma most people face: ‘I don’t have enough time to do everything’. Yet, I’m personally starting to find that as such a weak excuse, because I truly believe that at any given point of time, you actually have the power to choose what you most want to do at that point of time. It’s honestly a game of ‘give and take’ with your time, so what are you willing to ‘give up’ doing so that you are able to work on your pursuits? What are you going to prioritize in your limited time? - ’The Early Bird Gets Stuff Done’ - JamieLYY

During my downtime in the past few weeks, I’ve spent countless hours re-watching one of my favourites show ’Outlander’, from season 1 all the way till season 5 - and yes, that time could definitely have been better spent on more productive things like reading more articles / books or watching more insightful content.

Since completing all episodes, I’ve repurposed most of my downtime to working on my fitness instagram posts, my blog posts and of course this newsletter. I’ve definitely found it to be a more productive use of my time.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t take time to rest and relax and enjoy the things we like to do. I’ve been there and totally get it, sometimes after an exhausting day at work, you just want to sit down and let your brain 'rest’.

'Since it’s a game of tradeoffs - decide what you want to do and remember to adjust your expectations accordingly’ - V (a piece of wisdom imparted to me by my amazing manager)

Obviously, if you haven’t put in 100% into something, don’t expect the same results.

We need to strike a good balance as to what works for us in the long run, because we are in complete control of what we want to do.

However, everyone is different, so find your balance and make it work for you :)
