Time to take it seriously

Some of you know I’ve been doing a bit of survival stuff lately.
Going out into the bush and being able to take care of myself... not die…that sort of thing.
And when I say, doing some survival ’stuff’, it’s ’stuff’ because I’m just playing at it.
I’ve not taken it seriously until now.
So yesterday I was out in the Neerim State Forest doing a little tracking.
Tracking animals fit in the survival ’stuff’ category.
I know a few tricks.
I can identify a track.
Mainly deer tracks.
I can see where they’re moving.
I can see where they’ve been sleeping.
But I have no idea what I’m doing with that information.
I know a few ‘things’.
I know some ’stuff’, but I don’t have all the steps.
So on Sunday, I find myself way off track in the middle of this beautiful part of the forest.
It’s eerily quiet and I feel like I’m being watched.
I’m trying to be quiet, but not doing a great job.
I make my way down to the base of a deep gully.
And I come across an animal super highway.
There are sooooo many tracks.
Tracks everywhere!
But I see ZERO animals...not a one.
I know they’ve been here.
I know they’ll be back, in fact, they may be watching me right at this moment.
But I can’t SEE them.
And even with all the beauty around me, I’m starting to get frustrated.
I realise that, when it comes to tracking deer, I don’t know what I’m doing.
Because I only have the first 2 steps.

I know what I’m looking for…and I can find WHERE they hang out.
Now what?
I need the rest of the process.
It’s taken me hours to get out in the middle of the forest.
I’m staring at the tracks…there are hundreds of opportunities around me...now what?
Have you ever felt like you learned something cool and you get started doing it, only to discover you don’t have all the steps?
In the past, I've looked at consistently successful people and thought they were gifted, or it was magic.
But then I learned that the?magic was just a process.
A series of simple steps.
So yeh, it’s fun to get out into the forest once in a while and play.?
Feel like I know a few things.
But the reality is, if I want to feel confident that I can find what I need, I need someone to show me the steps.
OR if I want to keep wandering around in the forest getting lost and feeling frustrated I can keep doing what I’m doing.
I can keep playing at this thing.
At the end of the day, If I want to get serious, I need to ask for guidance.
So right after I’m done posting this article I’m going to contact a guide I know and see if he can help.
What steps do you need to learn right now?
And who are you going to ask for guidance?
