It is time to take the leap

It is time to take the leap

Welcome.

Today is a significant milestone. However, I wanted to approach it grounded in the realities of our world and lives rather than relying on over-familiar words.

So, this new poem from Gideon Heugh feels like a good fit.

TAKE THE LEAP ANYWAY

Dare to believe. And when believing lets you down,

and after you have grieved, believe in something bigger.

Keep going until all that you have faith in

is the earth, life, and everything.

Love. And when love lets you down,

and after you have grieved, take your love further.

Keep expanding the circle until all that you love

is the earth, life, and everything.

They will convince you to be cynical.

They will convince you to close up, to tighten your fist.

They will convince you that life isn't worth the risk.

Take the leap anyway.

+ Gideon Heugh, from Naming God, 2023

I want to be reminded to keep going. To leap in the coming year, even when it’s challenging, because, at times, it will be.

Let’s go together.

Pause. See differently. Re-story ??

Last night as I was journaling I was guided to consider those two — grief and belief — in the context of one aspect of my life. So I had a bit of a ‘hairs on back of neck’ moment reading this Sue!

Ah poetic justice since this a “leap” year. The best of life to you two.
