The time of self blame, shame and frustration around changing our habits is over
There are two possible options:
a. Struggle knowing what to do in order to experience more of the energy, freedom, fun, fulfilment and financial success you are looking to experience.
or
b. You are struggling to consistency do or stop doing those things you know will bring more energy, freedom, fun, fulfilment or financial success into your life.
The first is an information problem and in a world where the information on the internet doubles every day this is a problem that can be remedied with a short amount of research on google.
The second is often billed as a will power problem, a self sabotage problem or a not wanting it enough problem.
Where it gets interesting is that those people who have demonstrate the greatest amount of will power... whether it is achieving the highest levels of education, sports performance, wealth, or have overcome incredible odds to achieve rare and extraordinary accomplishments, routinely find themselves lacking the fulfilment they most desire in life. I’ve worked with many of them.
Self sabotage is defined as, wilful and deliberate destruction. This description cannot be applied to anyone but those suffering from mental illness.
As for not wanting it enough, this can only be confirmed by the individual but commitment is demonstrated by the exchange of value and I have personally seen many people desperate for transformation invest huge amounts of money, time, energy and other sacrifices only to learn that they did not have an information problem and they we paying an information provider be that a doctor, a mindset coach, as nutritionist or a personal trainer - all excellent services IF you have an information problem.
Transformation is not a MIND over matter problem.
It is a brain problem
It is a neuro association problem. In that the brain lacks a clear and coherent definition of the current reality and why the way it is currently working isn’t working. And it lacks a simple rational and purposeful next step that feels both safe and achievable.
It’s a basal ganglia problem because the currently programmed habit, even if that habit is avoiding the situation, doesn’t seems to be impacting our current connection or hierarchy within the tribe so without outlining the commitment to a loved one the brain will just continue running the same programme and see the other as risky behaviour. In fact it is here that the feeling of the NEED for will power arises, it is the brain saying I DON"T FEEL SAFE. Transformation is effortless when prediction and response is present.
It’s an anterior Cingular cortex problem because we attempt to change our behaviour so significantly that the fear of loss of connection as we change who we are to everyone around us pulls us back to those behaviours that allow us to fit in, blend in and disappear during our next time of stress, pressure our overwhelm. We are hard wired as connection and hierarchy seeking beings. When this isn't accounted for in our plan the brain will resist, distract, send excuses.
The truth is that nobody has a business problem, a health problem or a relationship problem.
We have a brain problem and chasing the side effects of it has us chasing shadows until exhaustion.
The system we have be taught for creating behavioural change has been proven beyond all measure to not work. More than that it has been proven to leads to lower esteem and lower self confidence each time we apply it.
We now have a neuroscience based method that works 100% of the time why do we continue to use a method that we know does not work?
