Clock Change
A final reminder the clocks change this weekend on the 26th March in the UK and Europe.

?? Event planning update: DevOps
A quick update, our next Mainframerz event, planning is underway if you have any questions you would like answered on DevOps, please let me know.
I can't guarantee we will address every question but I will pass them on whilst we are planning for our next event.
Improving the Mainframe Developer Experience To Gain A Competitive Advantage
DevOps success depends on healthy systems management, but mainframe operations teams often struggle with increasing development velocity, data volumes, and customer demands.
To keep up, they need to shift from reactive fixes to proactive prevention of service issues.

Jes3 to Jes3plus
A path to continue using the JES3 technology, Phoenix Software International is doing everything possible to make JES3plus the obvious choice for existing IBM JES3 customers. It’s the easiest path. It’s the least risky and most cost-effective option.
Moving to JES3plus allows customers to focus on their business objectives and not their infrastructure.?JES3plus? is a licensed, derivative work based on IBM’s JES3 source code with a very straightforward implementation that is no more effort than implementing a new version of IBM JES3 as part of your z/OS? upgrade.?
JES3 will no longer be included in the new upcoming IBM z/OS 3.1 release and z/OS 2.5 is the last time JES3 is available through IBM.
JES3plus is a seamless and easy switch for those of you using JES3 currently.
Customers will have complete transparency with their user community.?

"Whatever Comes Next" - For The Mainframe
If you are like me and like to know what the next big thing on the mainframe may be or where we may be heading next in terms of use of the mainframe. I can share a summary from an article I was reading which states:
Mainframe growth is predicted to continue to grow on average by approximately 4.5% per year towards 2025 to $2.9bn.
The growth on the mainframe will be led by two main factors, these are increasing adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT) & Mainframe as a Service (MaaS).

The growing energy consumption needed by your data centre
All of us who work with the mainframe or the cloud will be aware of the problem of energy consumption needed by data centre's.
I wrote this article just for fun, you may find a surprise in the story...
The UK Government, like many other countries, has an ambitious target of being carbon neutral by 2050. Could a new solution could have been found?
