Time to Rethink...Reinvent and Transform

We as QA Professionals are faced with greater challenges these days. So many software vendors in the industry are now using new techniques in product development and delivery to stay in a competitive edge. New ways in agile, new ways in development and new ways in testing and delivery are tried upon to be at the cutting edge of success. These are due to forces of competing with other firms who tries to gain its market share in the industry.

Companies around the world have now started laying off people who are not flexible to these new trends. Traditional manual test opportunities are being reduced in many countries globally and some may have asked to get into the new trend or move out. As test professionals, we are at our most crucial and deadliest moments in our career. We should adapt to new work practices in the industry like DevOps, Test Automation, Performance Testing, Security Testing, Exploratory Testing and Continues Delivery. QA professional like us should now think for a moment and see how we can groom our selves to the next level to stay in our current roles of testing or change completely to stay employed.

Test automation is one of the key areas in the industry that is changing the way we test. More and more organizations are embarking on test automation to be included in their test practice. Test automation on the other hand is also in a climax stage. Many tools, frameworks and also technologies have evolved in test automation that we should embark on our learning and thought process. Today we are forced to learn these tool sets as we have no option left in order to survive.

Behavior Driven Development, Web Service Testing, Robotic Process Automation and even in Machine Learning are some of the new hot trending topics in these days that we as test automation professionals should put our hand on.

With these changes that our happening in the industry we should now rethink, re-innovate and transform our selves to be a test professional demanded today. We should also think that we cannot just make use of any off the shelf baked products when it comes to test automation. We have tremendous challenges ahead we cannot rely on a single test automation tool. "Integrations" have become the keyword here. We have to think beyond that be skilled to integrate with other tools, technologies and frameworks. This is our way to success. This what I have embarked on for my 10+ years of test automation career and believe me, my success today is on my positive and self driven mindset that I have.

I would also take this moment to highlight the fantastic event we just completed recently in Pune, India. The Selenium Summit 2018. It was an event which really gave a great detail and insight on new test automation trends are really happening in the industry. There were many thoughtful and great speaker events happened with great set of experienced speakers telling their success stories on using different variety of test tool flavors. These speaker events showed cutting edge test automation tool integrations in BDD, RPA, Web Services and also new Selenium based wrapper tools. As a speaker of this event it was a great pleasure to address a wider set of audience to share my knowledge and experience.

The next exciting moment was the panel discussion we had on the topic, that its time to rethink and re innovate as a test automation professional. The experienced panelist in the session gave the audience a great advice and in depth information why we now should embarked on thinking our selves to rethink and re-invent. It was a great day filled with lot of information sharing among the members of test community.

I was so excited to see the large crowed gathering for the event as I was able to share my knowledge and experience and also setting the same phase for the theme of the summit. The speaker event on Selenide and BDD, and Lab session on Reporting frameworks created a greater enthusiasm among the crowed that made these sessions so much lively.

The other awesome session which held was the post conference workshop on looking at Web Services testing tools with BDD and Data Driven capability which was conducted by me. It was a fantastic day event organized in conjunction with the Selenium Summit. Lot of cutting edge tools were discussed on Web Services and BDD. This workshop session was highly informative which created and facilitated the participants of having a Swiss army knife for web services automated testing. It was a great success where I was able to share my knowledge and experience with great set of participants who came for the workshop.

Aditya many thanks for facilitating these events its a great privilege to come to Pune to speak on a great event like this. Its truly a great event which helps our QA community to rethink and grow to new ways of test automation there in the industry. This is truly an eye opener to all of us.
