Time for a Resume Rewrite?

You would NOT believe some of the resumes we receive! If it makes us groan, I promise you that it will not survive parsing by a company's ATS. We just cannot present a poorly-written resume to a top tier firm.

• Do NOT write your own resume. A resume is a marketing tool with one purpose: snagging an interview. It should NEVER be written from one’s own perspective - it should be written for your viewer. It also should allow a company’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to parse it.
• For older job seekers, emphasis should also be placed on what you are capable of doing in the future rather than just what you’ve done in the past. Do not list every job that you’ve ever held. Place emphasis on your tech skills. 
• Two pages is the maximum, unless you're applying for a C-Level position.
• Do not lead with your education unless you are a recent graduate. If you earned your degree more than five years ago, you’re not a recent graduate and your degree(s) should be placed at the end of the resume along with any training that you’ve had in the past few years that underscores the fact that you’re up-to-date in your field. 
• Avoid drawing attention to any “career detours.” Frequent job changes are still a red flag. There's a way to work around this, but it requires finesse.
