Time to Refresh Your Personal Brand?

Time to Refresh Your Personal Brand?

People often ask me, "How do I keep my personal brand authentic, relevant, and connected?"

If you follow me on Linkedin, I talk a lot about building your brand based on your values.

This helps you stay authentic and differentiates you from others.

But what if you are feeling a little lost and not sure what your values are anymore?

Summertime often offers a slower season so it is a great time to do some reflecting on what is working and what is not and make changes where needed.

I have exercises in my book, A Million Little Clicks, to help with this process.

One exercise you can complete right now is to list out a few of the most memorable experiences in your life and work.

These are those “Moments of Impact” that set you on a new course or changed the way you think.

It may seem simple but this is a powerful exercise to show you what has been important in your life and what you value.

Simply write down the memory and then the value you got from that memory in a list numbering each.

Like this: Memory + Value of Experience

Then, see if you can identify any themes running throughout all the experiences.

From there you can pull out your top 5 core values. These can be single words that represent what matters most to you.

What you list are the core elements that shape and define your values and are part of who you are.

Knowing this will lay a strong foundation for your personal brand.

It is something you can come and review as you build out your brand and start creating content.

It will be a big part of your “why.”

I walk you step by step through the brand refresh process with more detail in the most recent blogpost here.

I understand personal branding, which brought me to a book that was first introduced in 1937 in the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. There was another book later on to discuss that. Just from my curiosity, have you read these or any others? I have been thinking of such items since I read your articles. Thank you for publishing your work to help others with their own branding and/or helping them grow themselves. It is inspiring.
