Time is Precious. Period.
A few days back, I read some dreadful news.
A wife killed her husband because he didn’t give her a gift she was expecting on her birthday.
I was taken aback by the thought that we give so much importance to money.
It’s an extreme case, but it has some reality in all of us.
Money is Just a?Tool.
Do you know Mr. Beast? Jimmy Donaldson. YouTuber.
Why do you think he is the biggest YouTuber?
No, it’s not due to the money he distributes in each video. It’s the time and effort he puts into each video.
Larger-than-life sets.
In his early days, he made a 24-hour video of him counting to 100,000 (100K). Just think of the effort he had put into doing it.
It’s not just true about YouTube. Take any vocation or job. You need to give time.
Buying any software is of no use until you know how to use it. And to do that?—?you need to give your time to it.
Assume you are too wealthy and want to impress your spouse with your guitar skills.
Money can buy the tool (guitar), but it won’t make you a guitarist. You do need time to invest in learning it.
Money is Addiction.
“Salary is the drug, and money is the addiction”?—?Chandrakant Bakshi
The biggest obstacle for me leaving my well-settled 9-to-5 was salary. The addiction of getting the message on the 1st of every month made me happy and energetic for a few minutes.
Yes! Only a few minutes.
Most of us work tirelessly throughout our lives and are not satisfied by the money we earn. We always want more.
And most of us end up with much more money than we actually need to live.
All the wealthiest people in the world had one thing in common when they were on their deathbed -
They spent a lot more time than required on their work. They regret not spending more time with their loved ones.
Have you ever shared publicly on a social media platform how much money you earn?
But, you share even a small monthly award you get in your office with a photograph of you receiving it from your CEO. Why?
Because the value of that moment, that time with your CEO, and the certificate they signed has more value for you than the money.
Also, think about why there is the highest retention in any company when a CEO is involved in the discussion?
The Best Gift is Not?$$.
Every person’s earning capacity changes with time. What is not changing and constant for every person is -
TIME.
Each one of us has 24 hours in a day. You can’t increase or decrease it (unless you make a time machine for yourself).
So, the most valuable gift we can give to each other is not money.
It’s time.
Our grandparents or great-grandparents don’t want or expect any material thing from us. They just seek our time. Why?
Because they have understood the most valuable thing in life.
Data says divorce rates decrease drastically after a pair spends 25 years.
Time is important.
The best of relations are built not on gifts, but on time spent with each other.
