'Time to Play' Something Special

I'd like to draw your attention to something a little different today, and although I'm no card player, this 'Kickstarter' project deserves so much more than just a passing glance. Why? Because the designer is none other than the extremely talented Jannieke van Geet! Now, while this name may not register immediately, Jannieke is also the designer of the Ligure 'Tartaruga' Scuba Diver. I've written with passion about the Ligure, and over many months I've come to know both Jannieke and her husband Pieter, one of the founders of Ligure Watches, quite well. Jannieke is, without doubt, extremely talented, and when Jannieke sent over some images of this project I instantly felt the same passion as I did with the Ligure.

The quality and attention to detail is breathtaking

Jannieke is the Creative Director at the Dutch Card House Company and has, once again, come up with something very special; those with a passion for horology and poker are in for a real treat with this. The 'Time to Play' set is indeed worthy of any collector, and will undoubtedly give many years of pleasure. Jannieke has been working on this project for more than a year, and I'm sure you'll agree that it shows in every single detail. The set includes a deck of playing cards whose design instantly transports you back in time to those smoke-filled, poorly lit poker rooms of the early 1900s, where intrigue, along with the rich aroma of whiskey hung in the air. The detail and workmanship is indeed something to behold, but it doesn't end there, in fact, that's just the beginning! The centrepiece is a wristwatch that echoes the design of the playing deck with a passion that can only be described as captivating. The two are very special in their own right, but together they depict a story so vivid that your palms start to sweat at the mere sight, almost as if you were at the table yourself. The watch's appearance is almost spellbinding; its design and execution is really something quite special. The set is contained in an equally impressive, I'm tempted to say box, but that really doesn't do justice to what can only be described as a fundamental component in this exquisite, time-travelling experience.

A marriage made in heaven

This will, undoubtedly, be appreciated by anyone that plays cards and will continue to transport them back to that magical time for many joyful years. I've included a link to The Dutch Card House Company should you wish to explore further. This incredible set will have a Kickstarter price of €179 and will launch on September 10th. 2023, running until October 10th. 2023. After this date, the price will increase to €259.

The design of the dial is a joy to behold

I know that this will be an incredible success and that it certainly doesn't need me to shout about it. My intention is only to assist in letting others know about something that is special on so many fronts. I know that we'll hear so much more from Jannieke in the future, from both The Dutch Card House Company and, no least, from Ligure Watches. Jannieke's passion is present in whatever she does, and that's when design becomes so much more than just a word. I consider myself extremely fortunate in that I know so many talented individuals, and Jannieke is up there with the very best.
