Time for Pharma to Help Rural Healthcare
The new dispensing fee for the period October 2021 to April 2022 has been announced with a drop in the fee paid per item as listed below. The average fall in the fee is 33.4p, which means for every 1000 items dispensed the drop in income will be about £334 per month. Over the six month period this will be approximately £2000 for a dispensary issuing 1000 items per month.
For those dispensing GPs with a large dispensing list size the results will be a dramatic loss of income which is vital to support rural healthcare.
Now it is time for Pharma to pick up the challenge and support rural dispensing doctors. Whether it is funding for training, sponsorship [where possible] of staff, support with patient care and remote monitoring, helping to introduce new technology or whatever you can do; now is the time to do it.
Your support at this time is vital, these next six months will be a big challenge to GP Partners still recovering from the impact of Covid-19 and subsequently on their dispensary income. Dispensing income plays a vital part in keeping branch sites open where a full blown GP practice or pharmacy is not viable.
Email [email protected] to discuss how Pharma and Dispensing Doctor Experts can help mitigate these losses.
