THEIR TIME IS PAST

You see grandma, your time is past, you can never match us in dancing with that old school dance of yours. This was a response a young girl gave to the grandma who wanted to be part of the high school dance. Old age is not a curse but a blessing, Saeed Ahmed once said "Respect your elders and the world will respect you". The fact that they are getting old, does not make them irrelevant.

It is painful and sad to note that most aged folks are having a hard time getting the necessities of life. Even wealthy children sometimes cannot guarantee physical comfort and protection for the aged parents. Other times abuse may come in the form of emotional neglect, where their opinions are not counted as important. Whichever form it presents itself, elder abuse of any kind is detrimental to the family values and overall upbringing of the younger generation.

Even in old age, they still need our touch and kindness. We must never show that they are unwanted or relegated and beyond physical provision, we must protect them emotionally.
