Time to Participate & Communicate

A wise woman once told me “If you choose not to participate, you forfeit your right to complain”.

This sentiment rings true from the grassroots to our industry peak bodies, especially in this modern day and age where engagement, communication and participation are available for most of us at just the touch of a button.?

The grassfed cattle industry of Australia is currently in election mode - Cattle Australia’s first Board elections have commenced. For the first time, producers can be part of a democratic election process and positively influence the direction of our grass-fed cattle peak body to ensure our businesses, families and communities are supported in the long-term.

So, how do producers participate?

Participation doesn’t always have to be active or direct, although I would certainly encourage all producers to register and vote. You can participate by reading, talking and thinking.?Visit the Cattle Australia webage and read the bios of the nominees, track them down on social media and find out what they stand for, what sort of changes would they make if they were in power? ?Will the grassfed cattle sector thrive or suffer under their care?

These simple acts, when we all participate, can be very powerful.?And even more powerful is reaching out to these nominees and telling them what you think.?We are blessed to live in a time where social media means instant and often direct contact with people.?If we want to participate, we need to communicate. Not just with those involved in industry representation, but with each other, with as many diverse groups as you possibly can. You may be surprised to see where common interests lie and goals align. ?And that is where the true power lies, in active participation, collaboration and communication.
