A week in and out of a hospital due to bacterial infection gone bad, as not enough "time" was allowed for a proper recovery... This is how my summer 2018 started. I have a need to share this with my connections, as the reminder to them, as well as to myself how important it is not to lose oneself in the routine of life.
And then the bad fall!
Always rushing, work, family obligations, house chores, events, meetings... one wrong step (literally) can definitely change your perspective. We need to remember that accidents can happen to anyone!
I fell down! Excruciating pain and another hospital visit. I did not comprehend until that moment what does it mean being paralyzed by fear and pain! When your injured arm starts feeling numb, stiff and odd and then the sensation start spreading through the other arm, legs and the whole body. Trying to explain to the doctors where the pain comes from but the jaws are jamming so tight that words are unrecognizable and you feel yourself like an Alien. Am I having a Stroke? The agony continued for several days until I was diagnosed with a definitive shoulder fracture. A six weeks to eight weeks set back! How to deal with many missed deadlines, and backlog of paperwork...work related stress takes effort to diffuse. Long six weeks of physiotherapy ahead. More lost "time". It is easy to feel helpless when you are so dependent on others. Funny how life is lightly taken for granted. Getting dressed, writing, typing, driving...trivial but yet essential. A reminder that God-given gifts should be of a humble use. The beauty of the silent time is that you shush the pain by reading books, and have actually chance, for the first time in so long, for a personal development and introspection. I was lucky enough to recognize both the impact of my absence from my job as well as the capability to catch up and carry on! We are all normal humans that are expected to work and live like we have some superpowers, and real values of life are so blurred in everyday expectations of the others. But bear in mind that for someone we are the others too!
I had the time to think why did I establish Meaningful Synergies, how did Get in the Ring shape my views, why Purpose Life Group is my next challenge, and how it is to be from the other side of the medal.
What is the point? To believe in yourself, to never give up, to work smart as much as hard and to live your dreams instead of just keep dreaming them. But yet, to make a break from time to time, hit the pause button and just enjoy nature, art, silence, and life.
