Have no fear, I am not going to bore you with my life story. I value your time too much. What I am going to do is give you a glimpse of my voyage to thinking about and then doing something about that thinking which resulted a resource that is now on paper (and in digital form): The Time-Optimized Life. As you read this, think of your own trek and how time interacts into your decision making.

Time Realization

I weaved my way into a sales career. It was not something intentional. As a high introvert, my natural default is less social interaction. However, I found “sales success” in the details. I knew I was never going to be the most charismatic presenter, or the smoothest talker. I established I was able to distinguish myself in my preparation and follow-up.

We all have unique traits that allow us to enter periods of high productivity zones. Mine is found more in the quite moments. Others find theirs in cycles of collaboration and human interaction. Whatever your approach, realizing when you can be most effective with your time opens you to greater opportunities

Take the TMA and get a complimentary summary assessment.

Time Standards

I’ve been through a lot of training in my career. The education that has meant the most to me has been personalized. Sure, generalized guidance is beneficial, but when I hear, “Just use the formula I created, and you’ll be successful!” - I am very wary. We can all accomplish the same thing but get those results in very different ways.

That’s why I created the Time Management Analysis (TMA). I wanted to have a common tool to work with clients, but that was custom to them. It is a generalized assessment providing very personal results.

As you try and understand your own standards for time, realize there are so many resources out there waiting to help, but you’ll need to customize how they benefit you.

Time Approach

As I began to collect information from the TMA, I noticed certain patterns come to the forefront. Most of us get distracted (it is my biggest time management challenge). Procrastination is a long-term productivity killer. Saying “yes” creates a lot of stress because we don’t know how to say “no”. The majority do not connect personal care with improved productivity.

The data became an outline for the book. I felt there was a pathway to providing advice that was digestible for a diverse set of readers, but personal enough to integrate elements into their own lives.

Time Writing

I was surprised how productive I could be with standards and goals. The book writing process was a deposit of my research and personal experiences, but The Time-Optimized Life was also an education for me, and the concept of PEC (preparation, execution, and control) was unpacked and developed in the process of writing. It proved to me that inspiration can and does come from structure.

Appreciate that even in the most mundane activities, there can and will be openings of time that lead you to new places, thoughts, and ideas.

Time Optimizing

As this article gets published, I am one day away (April 9, 2024) from the official publication of The Time-Optimized Life. However, like life itself, it is only going to be one day of the journey to a published book. My hope is to see the lives of those who read it and will be able to focus more time on their own journey, their own unique experiences, their own approach to a life of more meaningful activities.

Whether you choose to read the book or not, as I say at the end of The Time-Optimized Life, “I want you to have a time-optimized life. One that is filled with time richness because you are continuously pursuing the finest in preparation, always precise in your execution, and gaining heightened control over your productivity.”
