The Time Is Now!

The founder of Urban Youth Justice, Pedro Rodriquez and friends came out to CSI-Ocala to speak and perform for our youths. Everyone had different testimonies of how they’ve changed their lives by giving up the streets, although some barely made it out. Their testimonies of gang violence, drugs, alcohol, in and out juvenile facilities at a young age eventually led to prison time for some. This organization is one of the most caring and intentional group of individuals who’s dedicated to making a change in the lives of our youths. The focus they have is on love and compassion. While one of the speakers shared his story of being abused by his father, and how he turned to the streets to later become locked up by the age of 8 years old for 1 ? years without no one coming to visit or call him. And how this allowed hatred and bitterness to enter his heart. He began to grow up in gangs, and was eventually sentenced to prison. During the years of incarceration, he found Christ. He said to the youths that their time is now! Make a decision to change your thinking, pray and ask God for strength, and to help you do the right thing. The others spoke on how life teaches them every day about dignity, understanding, patience, forgiveness, and most of all unconditional love. Urban Youth Justice encouraged them to look at people and things in a different way. The world has changed, it’ll never be the same. They spoke with passion and conviction, and through their humility, leaving the audience with much to think about as they move into their future. Special rap performances were done throughout this event. Raps based off of their decisions, experiences, that led them to leave the streets and follow Jesus. At the closing the floor was opened to anyone in need of prayer whether staff or youth. Our youths stood up without shame to ask for prayer.
