Is It TIME for a New Content Site? Do You Know How To Avoid ‘Purpose-Washing’? And More From the Week
Content Marketing Institute
We teach brands how to attract and retain customers through compelling, multichannel storytelling.
? Speaking of: TIME for a new content site?
What’s TIME magazine doing buying up the code-free website building platform Brandcast? Getting into the content agency business, for one thing. The acquisition will power TIME Sites, a new custom service to help brands quickly create digital content experiences (think microsites, account-based marketing pages, and thought leadership hubs). But why now? And is this trend of media companies starting agencies a good thing for brands? And what about existing content agencies?
Robert Rose offered this take in a livestream earlier today. If you missed it, watch the replay or read the lightly edited script.
?? Reading list: Purposeful marketing > purpose-washing
People expect brands to take a stand (and support it with actions). But the risks of stepping wrong are real. And everyone involved in content, marketing, and communications feels the heat. Read the highlights from an in-depth discussion with #CMWorld speakers Karen McFarlane, Sydni Craig-Hart, and Jacquie Chakirelis to learn how to get purposeful marketing right. (Or listen in, if you prefer.)
?? Looking forward to: Seeing you (we hope) at Content Marketing World?
The joy of bumping into old friends. The rush of ideas sparked by conversations with new ones. Sure, learning plays a big part in why marketers come to Content Marketing World. But people are the heart of the experience.

??? Overheard: Content editing: The art of revising from basic to brilliant
Writers and editors, read this brilliant article from Copyblogger. You will feel seen. Stefanie Flaxman’s spot-on descriptions of writing foibles (unicorn vomit, anyone?) will have you laughing, nodding, and (sometimes) cringing along. Oh, and you’ll find helpful tips on revising your own work and other people’s copy, too.
?? Chatting about: What do you wish you’d known about podcasts?
Does your brand have a podcast? If so, what do you wish you’d known when you were building it? CMI LinkedIn group member Michael Sjostedt asked the question and got many interesting responses. Take a look, then add your thoughts to the list.
If you’re not already a member, join the group to respond or to start a conversation of your own.
