A Spiritual and Emotional Journey Through Life and Loss
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today, not just in physical space, but in the emotional and spiritual realms, to reflect on this ever-mysterious cycle of life and death. It's electric—this "life" thing. Electric in its charge, in its vibration, and in its ability to jolt us out of complacency and into moments of pure joy, sorrow, anger, and above all else, love. Prince's electric word for "life" does mean forever, just not in the way most would think. It means forever in the impressions we leave, in the love we give and receive, and in the continuity of souls in what we refer to as the Afterworld.
My sister made her peaceful transition into that realm yesterday. It’s a world of never-ending happiness where you can always see the sun day and night. Her exit from this life, as quiet as it was, leaves a profound loudness—a reverberating echo reminding us that while our physical bodies are mortal, our spirits are eternal.
The Joy Amidst Sorrow
As we grapple with this loss, I find comfort in knowing that she’s gone on to reunite with our mother, friends, and loved ones. Oh, what a reunion that must be! While our human minds can't fully grasp it, our hearts can feel the joy and peace enveloping her now. She fought cancer with grace, for five years, but today, she's free from that fight, experiencing a life without pain or fear.
Love in Action
Shout-out to @danniellestrayer, who proved that family isn't just about blood my new sister, it’s about action, love, and care. Your facials and manicures brought sunshine into sterile hospital rooms, reminding my sister of the simple, beautiful things in life.
To my baby cousin, @asabiBeal, you became the bedrock of courage and love, holding my sister's hand as she took her last breath. In time, I pray you’ll see just how meaningful your presence was in that sacred moment.

The Complexity of Emotions
As for myself, I sit with a complicated emotional cocktail. I'm angry, an emotion I rarely explore in words. Angry at her choices, angry at not having been more intrusive in her life, angry at the universe for taking her away. But as I sift through this anger, I recognize it for what it is—a human response to the unfathomable. And if I genuinely respect that everyone has their own life journey to make, then I must respect hers too, however much it pains me.
Time: A Fickle Friend
Time was on our side until it wasn't. Now, all we can do is hold on to the love she left behind and fill her physical absence with the sweet strains of Prince, letting "Purple Rain" or "When Doves Cry" remind us that, just like Prince, her influence—her electric word "life"—will resonate forever.
So as we part for now, let us remember her by embracing the electric charge of our lives, living passionately, and most importantly, loving deeply. For life may end, but love—and the soul—goes on forever.

1 年So Sorry Bill! I lost both my Mom and Dad within a year in the same month. It is a difficult journey of acceptance. I miss them everyday. Especially my Mother as we spoke often and it was unexpected. My father had years of issues and was in a home, he was ready for heaven. My Mom we thought had 5-10 years left. It was by the grace of God I visited her a month before she died, and never imagined that would be the last. Covid had kept us apart for 5 years. Even in your sorrow, at least you got to say goodbye and tell her you loved her. That is a gift in itself. I am so sorry for your loss. I had a preacher tell me that even though our loved ones pass away, they would not choose to come back if they could because as you said the ever after is so much better than here on earth. They are reunited with their loved ones. It is difficult to grasp as a human still on earth, however one day we will experience the same thing. We can only hope that we leave a lasting impression of love and support on those we love and associate with.
