Time to move on and get bolder

After nearly 18 years leading the Committee on Sustainability Assessment (COSA) , it's time to pass the torch.

During these transformative decades, I’ve been inspired by collaborations with experts by the hundreds to establish the standardized COSA parameters for assessing and defining sustainability impacts. I am really proud of our incredible team that has helped catalyze some of the world's leading organizations to navigate innovative paths. But perhaps our most remarkable impact has been in the realm of public service. Our collaborations with governments, the United Nations, and many institutions have deepened our understanding of what makes a sustainability investment effective.

I've had the privilege to work with people who have left an indelible mark (thank you). Service has enriched me. And I'm profoundly grateful for our shared endeavors and friendships in the pursuit of sustainability.

Stepping down as Chief Executive, I entrust COSA's future to capable leaders like Liam Brody and our management team, who will continue to bring the power of science-based metrics and technology to our understanding of sustainability.

The work is far from done, we still have a lot of slow or fearful folks out there who prefer the status quo. Yet, there is cause for optimism with the many extraordinary individuals out there today who embody dedication and compassion. And I especially applaud the passion of the youth who are ready to overturn the many obsolete paradigms they have inherited. ?I hope we have at least loosened some of the rotten cement holding those together. Our youth know that it is not a time for half measures and we can all sense that "if it is not revolutionary, then we are probably not doing enough".

As for me, well I am not done yet. I am inspired by new freedom and purpose! My next chapter will focus on strategic advisory work and building even bolder approaches for select clients and projects who are committed to making a real difference.

Going forward, you can write me at [email protected] or find 70 of my books and publications from the last 3 decades at www.DGiovannucci.net

?with my warm regards, Daniele

Live simply. ??Love generously.? ?Care deeply. ??Speak kindly.?

Gosh, if I had know that I would get such nice accolades, I might have gone sooner. A serious thanks to all of you for your kind and heartfelt comments - I feel the love and hope you know how much I value you as well. A photo of New Year day at home

A rolling stone gathers no moss- keep rolling and re-inventing yourself and other industries.

Dear Daniele, the coffee world will miss your contributions via COSA, but I am sure you still have a lot to contribute in your new capacity.
