Time – the most crucial resource

Time is the 4th dimension in addition to the other three dimensions of Space. Time is the key. It is interesting to know that a very old saying in Assamese language on the importance of Time in a philosophical sense states that “In order to catch time, we must be ahead of time as the tail of time has moved from the back of the head to the forehead”. If we are behind time, we have hardly any hope to survive as the time is moving much faster than we can imagine. Not keeping pace with time is very risky. It requires a different mindset to be in companionship of time. As the saying says, if you are ahead of time, it is time which would try to catch up with you.

The quote from Benjamin Franklin is also quite relevant – “You may delay, but time will not”. William Penn quote on time is “Time is what we want most, but what we use worse’’. In 2009 while addressing the global symposiums as a keynote presentation, I mentioned that “Return on Time Invested (ROTI) shall be the key strategic weapon replacing Return on Investment". It is certainly true in today’s context.

I could lay hand of my old editorial in the Project Dynamics magazine published in July -September 1993 reflecting the importance of time. You may find it interesting and look forward to your comments.
