Planning how to effectively use and consciously regulate your time goes a long way in increasing productivity. Get more done in less time, in essence. This in turn gives a better work quality and lessen stress. More time to work on strategic or creative projects with less procrastination and more self-confidence.
So how do we achieve that? ??
- Know how you’re spending your time - Start with a time check. track what you’re?spending your time on to see if any areas or habits is blocking you from reaching your goals.
- Stick to a daily schedule - Create realistic timelines and pay undivided attention to the task at hand.
- ?Prioritize – create a to-do list. Break down your list by:
?Do immediately: Important tasks with defined deadlines, or ones you’ve put off for so long they’re now overdue.
?Schedule for later: Important tasks with no defined deadlines
?Delegate: Tasks that someone else can do
?Delete: Tasks you can eliminate because they’re not critical to your goals or mission
- Tackle the most difficult task first – Procrastinators often struggle to stay focused and ignore distractions. Start with the task that is the biggest, toughest, and most crucial—the one you are most inclined to put off for last. Put comparable jobs together so you may work on them all at once. Sort them by purpose or role.
- ?Set reasonable time limits – Keep the time limit for each task small enough that it's manageable.
- ?Learn when to say no - Know your limits and be prepared to say no to prevent doing subpar work. Understand your advantages and disadvantages. Concentrate on your strengths and delegate tasks that can be completed faster and more effectively by others.
- Avoid multitasking - It cuts efficiency and can even be dangerous. Mental juggling involves “switching costs” that slash productivity.?
- Keep things organized - Maintain a clean work desk.?Coordinate your computer files and shared drives. Use calendar to track events.
