Time Management mis-takes time

4 Causes of Poor Time Management is a classic of its type. It is a nice short piece summarising some of the core challenges leaders face about time and getting more done.
Helpful hacks and worth the read.
But it misses a more fundamental idea - that our relationship to time is flawed in the first place.
Time isn't to be 'managed' or something to get through so we can squeeze more stuff into our time. Time management assumes 'more is better'; that our purpose is to make the best (aka most productive) use of our time.
However, our experience of time is quite literally all we ever have. It is our very lives. To treat it as a commodity to deploy effectively is as sad as it sounds.
Being busy and getting stuff done is great - and important.
But our relationship with time is central to our relationship with life itself. Let's not treat it like an asset to deploy, but as a thing to experience.
I'll be running a short exec briefing on how to change your relationship to time in the coming months. Hit reply to let me know if you're interested, and I'll make sure you get an invite once I've confirmed the date and time.
