You might have come across a lot of situations wherein you would have felt stressed and pressurized due to a work burden. Or you might even feel like you have a lot of work to be completed than the time you have to complete those works allocated. The main reason behind this is poor time management. It takes time to develop time management skills and it differs from each person. Discovering what works best for you is the key here.
Here are a few common ways to manage time and increase productivity.
Prioritize your work. Make a list of important tasks that needs immediate attention before the start of the day. Tasks that are not important can wait a bit because we tend to waste too much energy and time because these tasks are easier and less stressful.
Delegate tasks. It’s quite common for all of us to take in more tasks than we’re capable of completing which will often result in stress and burnout. To overcome this, you can start delegating work to your subordinates according to their skills and abilities.
Develop a schedule. You can try maintaining a planner or a notebook to list down all your tasks. Checking off items as you finish accomplishing them helps you stay motivated. To manage your schedule better, you could list them into three as home, office, and personal.
Keep deadlines. When you have an important task at hand, set a deadline and make sure to stick to it, and once you set a task make sure to write it on a sticky note and paste it near your workplace so you would remember your task.
Say “NO” to procrastination. Procrastinating things always have a negative effect on productivity and might probably result in wastage of essential time and energy. It might seem difficult for many to avoid procrastinating but you can overcome it by breaking up difficult tasks.
Learn to deal with stress. You must pick wise ways to deal with stress while you’re exhausted with work or when you’re feeling tired. You can probably:
· Get outside
· Exercise
· Plan a trip with friends
· Practice meditation
· Listen to music
Start early. Almost every successful people will start their day early because they’ll have more time to sit, think and start their day. When you wake up early, you can stay calm and cool-headed. This kind of routine will help you have more time and will help you have a better day.
