Time is an expendable resource. It can’t be stopped or reversed. Once used, it can never be claimed back. Our time in this life is finite and each second we get nearer to the close of this existence. Depending on your religious worldview (or lack thereof), the end of this age can impact your approach to time right now.

Have I made you melancholy? I hope not and don’t be.

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18

Whatever your spiritual path (or not), approach your time management with a healthy, optimistic, prepared, and execution mindset. HOPE

Healthy

So often, people do not equate personal care with time management. In fact, over 40% of the participants in the Time Management Analysis (TMA) assessment admit they do not take good care of themselves. A healthy attitude breeds hope. Invest in 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night. Exercise 150 minutes a week. Take a least 1 intentional break a day and change your environment to give your mind and body a chance to be stimulated differently.

Optimistic

So many people approach their time management reactively. They battle distractions, interruptions, and their own procrastination. The schedule gets filled with other people’s priorities, causing frustration and stress. Build hope into life by understanding you can be proactive with your time. See how much there is that you can do to fill time with productivity and joy. Know when to respectfully say “no” and gladly say “yes.”

Prepared

Positive results come from preparation. It is one of the cornerstones of time optimization versus time management. Take a new day, not with an attitude of, “How much time will I spend?”, but with, “How much time do I get to use?” Use the opportunity to prepare your week with hopeful planning, formulated to enlighten your journey. Sure, our days are all not filled with all-encompassing bliss, but we can be intentional to carve out moments of delight to compensate for the challenges.

Execution

Setting the best plans in place will mean nothing unless you dedicate yourself to implementing them. Hopeful performance acknowledges you have optimistically given your full effort to complete what has been prepared. You keep a healthy and energetic attitude during the times when the schedule does not go as planned.

HOPE-full

My Christian faith is based on a hope of an event some 2,000 years ago that paved the way for a new life to come. It forms and can guide the way I plan and use my time today. While I still waste plenty of moments, I also appreciate that I can still use the time to come as a way to make up for a wasted past (no matter how short my unknown future will be). Be HOPE-full yourself and start to plan your time more effectively today.
