Time to Laugh
Lee shares wise council about life, living, laughter and death in East of Eden by John Steinbeck

Time to Laugh

I hope you take time to really laugh this weekend.

It’s Friday. 5:07pm by my clock. Before I sign off for the weekend, I hope you will take some time, or make the time, to actually, seriously, really laughthis weekend.

I finished “East of Eden” by John Steinbeck this week. It was a hard read, I wont lie, but in retrospect, I think that was kindof the point. This book was like living a whole life (or several lives) with all their inherent peaks and valleys, joys and sorrows, confusions and compassions.

Yet, even in the complicated parts, like real life, I found there was enough truth woven in those pages that I could not stop reading. Here is one of those nuggets:

“Laughter comes later, like wisdom teeth, and laughter at yourself comes last of all in a mad race with death, and sometimes it isn’t in time.” — Lee, in East of Eden by John Steinbeck

So, this weekend, I hope you will take some time to really, actually and truly laugh a little. Reconnect with someone (maybe yourself) that you have lost touch with, and don’t forget to live.

If you like, let me know how it goes.
