No time to job search?

No time to job search?

I hope you are adjusting well to Daylight Saving Time.??????

It threw me for a loop and we don’t even practice it in Arizona!

I had a meeting scheduled the Monday after the time change and I was late but I didn’t know I was late.

My colleague messaged me and asked where I was.

And I messaged her that we weren’t meeting for another hour.

To which she reminded me that the rest of the country moved their clocks up an hour.

Needless to say, I got really flustered and started frantically moving all the meetings and appointments on my schedule up an hour!

I had started my day as usual but was already behind in all my tasks and goals.

Time was not on my side!

And I know that’s how so many of my clients feel when it comes to finding time for their job search.

Searching for a new career while you have a job can be overwhelming.

That’s why this week we are addressing:?Am I doing enough in my job search?

My clients are really awesome! They are hard-working and motivated to give their best to everything they do.

That’s why they often find themselves wondering if they are hitting the mark when it comes to their job search.

Job seekers want to know if they are doing enough. Spending enough time. Revising their resume enough. Applying to enough roles.

Enough. Enough. Enough.

So here’s a little insider secret that I want to share with you:

??Quality over Quantity??

It may not seem earth-shattering but it’s true.

There is no set of metrics for job searching.

There is no set amount of time.

There is no set amount of applications.

The best way to spend your energy and allocate your time is to focus on the dream role or dream org that can lead to your most purposeful career.

That means that you may only be applying to a few roles or connecting with one dream org.

And while it may seem like this approach is putting all your eggs in one basket…

when you’re laser-focused on what you want…

you will clearly communicate what you can bring to your dream role and company,

instead of looking like a candidate who doesn’t know what they want, applying to dozens of roles to see what sticks.

Take our Happily Hired Formula student, Jen, as an example. She shares she went from spending hours applying to over 230 roles to applying to only 10 jobs the HHF way and landing a dream job in an organization and new industry that lights. her. up!
