Time Isn’t the Enemy

I get asked this one a lot. Who are you and what do you do?
Hmm.
First off. Life’s not about what you can put on paper…Building Your Life Resume isn’t about what you’ve done but what you’re DOING. The “average” human lives to be 78 years old. I’m not average, far from it I hope. I hope you don’t see yourself as average too! But even if you do, time presents an opportunity that should light a FIRE inside you. That’s getting the most out of every moment.
Time is powerful, it’s real, it dictates when we wake up, when we go to sleep, everything and anything. Sure. But if you look at life in MOMENTS and not in TIME, urgency becomes a true priority and the FEAR around time begins to fade. I want to squeeze in as many MOMENTS into LIFE as FAST as I can. That’s ME.
My mission is to build my life resume out of these moments. Create memories, build moments, live them and feel them. When I look back at my 25+ years in business, it’s not the days or minutes that stick out, but the MOMENTS that make them up. It’s the life experiences and the people around me that I value most.
I just turned 50. Some might say that to themselves and go “HOLY SH*T!” I HAVE 28 YEARS LEFT TO LIVE! They give in to the FEAR, versus USING IT to find out what they want to make out of their TIME. So as a 50th birthday gift to myself, I made a list of 50 things I want to learn — DJing, ballroom dancing, chess, driving a motorcycle, becoming a ping-pong master, the list goes on. I hired coaches for each thing and am already adding these EXPERIENCES to create new pages in my life’s resume. This is me getting to becoming the best version of me. This is me using time to create more LIFE.
Time isn’t your enemy -- it's the limits you allow time to create for yourself that is. Do more of what you LOVE to do with the people you LOVE to do them with. Make time your friend.

5 年Jesse, many thanks for this insightful post but what happens when a person does what he or she loves to do? ?and the person is not good at doing that very thing? I would rather advise people to focus on what they are pretty good at. The thrills and success that flow from doing what a person is good at is the game changer!
