Time - Insurmountable!

kāla? pachati bhūtāni kāla? sa?haratē prajā? ?

kāla? suptē?u jāgarti kālō hi duratikrama? ?

— On the Insurmountability of Time,

Time cannot be conquered by anyone!

If you think about it, the most precious resource we all have is TIME! Why then do we waste it on things we don’t like or don’t want to do, or on people we don’t wish to be with?.

Why do we treat Time like we have enough and more of it and there is a never ending supply of it and not like it's a scarce resource and hence needs to be utilised with utmost discipline and care?

Time is really a concept, a concept we use, to compare events, the intervals, the measurement of a progression of some event, etc.?

In?Math, time can be defined as?an ongoing and continuous sequence of events that occur in succession, from past through the present, and to the future.

As we navigate the complexities of our modern world, it becomes increasingly vital to reflect on our relationship with time. We must resist the temptation to succumb to its overwhelming power, and instead, embrace it as a catalyst for personal growth, meaningful connections, and purposeful action.

By recognizing the impermanence of time, we can cultivate a deeper appreciation for the present moment and make conscious choices that align with our values and aspirations.

In the?Vedas, Time is the potency of the almighty Personality of?Godhead Hari,?who controls all physical movement, although He is non-visible in the physical world.

The time one is allotted, even if it be millions of years, is quickly gone

So true is the above statement. While we all know we are going to die someday, we still act as if we are here forever on mother earth. Our behaviour reeks of racism, indifference, unhelpfulness, distasteful;?

while it could just be Kind, Mature, Generous, Helpful, conscious etc. We keep thinking this wont happen during our time, without realising that?Karma?comes back faster than we can even comprehend.

In a sanskrit journal I was reading; Time is in essence, nothing but?change. And change is the only constant out there. And the great Lord of Lords (devAdhideva??????????, mahA-deva????-????) shiva?????is the personification of change. And hence it is called mahA-kAla????-????— the great Time. It further states, ‘kalo hi durati-kramaH’ — Time is inevitable, insurmountable.

Chanakya Neeti 6.7 ….Time perfects all living beings as well as kills them; it alone is awake when all others are asleep. Time is insurmountable, rest upon truth.

The Insurmountability of time as a concept refers to the finite nature of time and also the challenge of managing it effectively. Time has always been and is a limited resource, and as we all know, once it passes, it cannot be recovered or regained, in other words it’s Lost! This universal constraint affects everyone.

Having said this, while time may be insurmountable, how we choose to use it during our lifetime, is well within our control, unlike what a lot of us may like to believe. We can make the best use of our time by consistently making conscious decisions, setting priorities, and managing our activities. One thing that we all need to remember is that we cannot do everything and we need to make our choices, depending on our values and responsibilities.

At the end of the day, understanding the insurmountability of time should serve as a motivation to all of us so that we make the most of each moment and focus on what truly matters to leading a more fulfilling and purposeful life.

So, should we be using our time on this planet wisely and make a difference to:

  • Help one another,
  • Be Polite,
  • Don’t Snatch,
  • Be less Greedy,
  • Share,
  • Start Living,
  • Contribute,
  • Educate,
  • Donate,
  • Smile,
  • Open the door for someone,
  • Feed!
  • Empathise,
  • Gratitude,
  • Patience

Live by these Tenets!

In conclusion, the insurmountability of time is an inescapable truth that permeates every aspect of our lives. Time will always remind us of our mortality, from the relentless ticking of the clock to the fleeting nature of moments, it should act as a reminder for us to make the most of every precious second we have.

Let us seize the opportunities that time presents, rather than allow it to dictate our lives.

In the face of the insurmountability of time, we have the capacity to leave a lasting impact on the world. Through our actions, our creations, and our connections, we can shape a legacy that transcends the limitations of time itself.

So, as we embark on our individual journeys, let us strive to make every moment count. Let us embrace the beauty of each passing day, cherishing the memories we create and the experiences we share. In doing so, we can find solace in the knowledge that though time may be insurmountable, our ability to make it meaningful is limitless.

Remember, the clock may continue to tick, but it is up to us to make the seconds, minutes, and hours truly matter.

Critical to learn for any one. Energizes and fixes priorities. Slightly on verbose side. Could be compacted to half its size with ease.
