That Time I Was Whitewashed

There is no painting on my job. That doesn't mean I don't find paint on my hands. Writing is my art. With views like mine? Starving artist. Maybe there will be interest after I'm gone. Probably not.

Flipping a box over today led to white paint all over my hands. On the occasions I have painted a room? More ends up on my hands than on the walls. It washes off. Why pay someone to draw on me when there is paint on my hands?

I have worked with people who have blood on their hands. Another story, another article. This was not my first encounter with errant paint. Near the end of a shift I was asked to carry a bag to another section. I was not informed there was orange paint on the outside.

My sister's son has mentioned his favorite color is orange. That's interesting. My favorite color is blue. We could get together and buy The Denver Broncos. Before I question if this man who is learning to read will attend Syracuse or Clemson? I mentioned that he would like seeing me. At that point? I was orange.

At least my hand was. It is never good having something unexpected on me. Sometimes baby oil seeps out of boxes. Where did that come from? There was a soy sauce explosion and many boxes had remnants of soy sauce.

Back to orange- why do I recall a four year old's favorite color? Because he told me. It isn't a secret. It is a frame of reference. Isn't that what people do? Listen to others and proceed accordingly? It can happen with anyone at any time. I look forward to learning more from others.

Mentioning your favorite color or drink of choice might mean more than mentioning where you went to college. I have the strange ability to recall someone's drink of choice. In conversation some have mentioned they enjoy Captain Morgan or Crown Royal. Why shouldn't I recall that? It's not like we later met at a bar and I bought them the drink they preferred at the time.

As if we could visit bars at this point. I can't see my sister's children either. Stupid pandemic. All these recollections came from wet paint. Ideas spring from adversity and it washed off.
