The Time I Hit A Moose
Good morning Achiever,?
Last summer, I had just finished a long day at work, after an even longer week and I was pretty burnt out.?
To add to the busyness, I was going camping on the weekend, but needed to run out and make sure the campsite was available before hooking up the camper and dragging it all the way out there for nothing.?
I got home late, maybe 10pm, and thought well I might as well make this a fun night by taking my street bike to check the spot.?
But, when I went to get my bike, my mother in law had parked her truck right in front of the bay door where my bike was, blocking access to it.?
Yeah, I could have moved it, but was already in a rush, and cranky, so I said whatever, I'll take the van instead.?
I jump in, and hit the road.?
After about 40 minutes, I hit the gravel road, and start cruising down the pitch black road.
Not even 10 minutes in, out of nowhere,?a big moose darts out of the bush.?
I try and avoid it, and manage to swerve just enough to side swipe it, rather than hit it head on.?
Now, for those who don't know - I'm in Canada. And up here, we have moose. Lots of them.?And they're big.?
If you hit one head on, the entire front of your car, or even the van, would fit under the belly, and it's entire thousand pound body comes crashing through the windshield onto your lap.?
It makes for a pretty bad day.?
Back to the story.?
I get out, a little shaken up, side of the van all dented up, but otherwise, perfectly fine.?
And then it hits me...?
Man,?that would have hurt on my street bike.?
Hitting a moose with a minivan is one thing.
Hitting one on a motorbike.... yikes!?
I believe, without a doubt, that anytime something happens, something that on it's own comes off as a set back,?it's happening to protect you from something else.?
Call it whatever you want, but I call it God. You can absolutely have any beliefs you want, you do you :)?
I remember another time, I got up at 4am, getting ready to go hunting, and had a 2 hour drive ahead of me.?
It was late fall, snow on the ground, and it had actually rained all night. The news was saying STAY OFF THE ROAD.?
I'm an achiever though...?I own my life, I take charge, I make shit happen...
So, I packed up anyways, and hit the road.?
15 minutes from my place, I'm driving between some solid concrete dividers where there was construction going on, when suddenly the oncoming car loses control, and the car behind it swerves into my lane to avoid rear-ending the one out of control.?
In a last minute decision, I decide to head for the concrete blocks, thinking they'll hurt less than a head-on collision with a pickup on the highway!?
"Somehow" (ahem, the big man upstairs), I manage to squeeze between the truck and the concrete blocks, out of control and slipping everywhere, without a single scratch.?
I promptly turned around and went home. Message received.?
Okay, back to the point of all this...?

Yesterday while jogging, I was listening to TD Jakes and he said a line that stuck with me.?
"When you ask for change [more money, better marriage, peace with your kids, new job], God sends disruption"?
Here's where most people get all bent out of shape.?
They say they hate change...?
Yet they want their finances to improve....
They want their kids to stop fighting...?
They want to meet that special someone...?
They want their sex life to improve...
They want their dreams to come true...?
All without change? Aint going to happen.?
If you want GROWTH, you need to go through CHANGE.?
Okay, so a little change is good right, especially if it's towards something you want, right??
Here's the kicker...?
Change comes with disruption.
When you plant a seed, in hopes of growing a beautiful, fruitful tree, it must first disrupt the soil around it in order to grow, in order to change forms, and become what it can be.?
Plant a seed on solid rock, rock that fights disruption and change, and the odds of you growing into your fullest potential are slim to none.?
If you're sick and tired of, well, feeling sick and tired...?
Tired of drowning in debt
Tired of drowning in fat
Tired of drowning in arguments
Tired of drowning in cholesterol?
Tired of drowning in laziness
Tired of drowning in average?
You need to embrace disruption, heck you need to invite, even CREATE disruption in your life, so that change can be allowed to take place.?
If you keep doing exactly what you are doing, you'll keep getting exactly what you've always gotten.?
The choice is yours,?
I believe in you.?
