TIME TO HONESTLY TALK ABOUT THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH A $15 PER HOUR WAGE??

If you are one of my connections and you so happen to identify as a Republican, I would like to talk to you about the fallacy of the Republican Leadership in your state and nationally.

This site is supposed to be about business and if you understand business the way I do numbers play a huge role in business. So, let's look at some numbers in particular the $15 per hour that so many Republicans oppose.

Let's agree for the lack of argument's sake that the minimum wage is $12 per hour nationally (it varies from state to state.) So, a collective agreeing of $12 per hour is where I would like to base my argument for $15 per hour and how that wage increase benefits business owners.

A person working 40 hrs per week at $12 per hour makes $480 per week x 4.3 (this 4.3 figure used because of the calendar months that have 31 days) equals $2064 per month gross earnings.

A person working the same 40 hrs per week at $15 per hour makes $600 per week x 4.3 equals $2580 per month.

A gain of $516 per month a person making minimum wage for a 40-hour work week. That extra $516 income is taxed as federal income tax and state income tax (if the state has one.) That extra income also collects governments money for unemployment benefits and social security.

So, lets for the sake of not arguing agree that the money deducted would total about $64 from the additional $500 income. That means the extra disposable income that person has to spend per month is $452 per month.

Disposable income means the exact same thing whether you are making minimum wage or earning a multimillion-dollar salary.

So, since small businesses are the engine that drives our economy that extra $452 in additional disposable income means a person that could not afford to purchase a product or service from your business now can. A person who makes an additional disposable income of $452 per month (studies show will more likely spend that extra income on services or products offered by their own employer.) Henry Ford showed this when he raised the wages for his workers.

So, if you're a small business owner the increase in operating costs by having to pay your employees $15 per hour will be offset by gains in terms of sales by new customers and employee purchases.

Another thought for you, every state has a state sales tax, so the extra spending due to the person's increase in disposable income generates revenue for your state.

Now let's talk infrastructure for a minute (forget about President Biden's Infrastructure Plan.) Where do you think states get funds to pay for let's say a sewage treatment plant - through taxes it raises property tax, state income tax, sales tax, etc. Which I already covered in the extra revenue a state will make if the minimum wage is raised to $15 per hour.

Since I am talking about a sewage treatment plant, last time I checked you Republican lawmakers that make a starting wage of $174, 000 per year and many law makers are millionaires - YOUR SHIT GOES TO THE SAME SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT AS EVERYONE ELSE'S AND EVERYONE PAYS TAXES TO THE SATE IN SOME FORM OR OTHER SUCH AS SALES TAX ON ITEMS PURCHASED.

TO HELP MAINTAIN THIS SEWAGE TREAMENT PLANT - SO UNLESS YOU CAN PROVE OTHERWISE STOP EXPECTING OTHERS TO SHOVEL YOUR OWN SHIT.
