Time Goes by Faster the Older You Get
“The vision of time is broad, but when you pass through it, time becomes a narrow door.” —Frank Herbert (Author of Dune.)
Of course, aging doesn’t affect the space-time continuum. Time doesn’t really speed up; it just seems that way. There are psychological reasons for the phenomenon. We gauge time by memorable first-time events, and we have fewer of them later in life. We constantly compare time intervals with the total amount of time already lived. Our biological clock slows and time appears to pass more quickly. We pay less attention to time as we age. And we feel there’s not enough time to get things done. All of these behaviors create the impression of time passing too quickly.
Thinking that there’s not enough time to get everything done can be a way to turn thought into reality. Be careful what you think! Do you want to empower time with influence over your behavior and the course your life takes, or do you want control, on your own terms? You create outcomes by developing, and meticulously following, a roadmap. Turn your dreams, aspirations, and goals into plans. Methodically complete each of your objectives within your established timeframe. If it doesn’t work out (you can count on a number of dead-ends), so what? Don’t view it as wasted time, look at it as invested time. A deposit in your lifelong education account.
Taking this approach may not slow your perception of time, but it’ll crack that narrow door Frank Herbert talks about a little wider and make time your friend.

7 年Yep, this is true. Just read how the older you get, it goes faster, because there are fewer "firsts" as compared to when we were children. Solution? Don't settle. Do different things. Try some crazy. Time will slow way down for you.

8 年When I was in my 20's I remember staring in disbelief when the "old timers" would say that time seems to go by faster as you get older.. back then each season seemed to last forever.. now they seem to go by in a heartbeat.. here it it's already mid- August .. Memorial Day (Indy 500) have come & gone..
