Goals traditionally seen as the life blood of performance are now being challenged, indeed seen by some as an obstacle to success. The ‘indictments’ are many: they can stifle creativity, encourage selfish and unethical behaviour, cause us to choose goals that reflect what we should do (rather than our own ambitions) and to get caught up in an endless pursuit of one goal after another.
