A time to give thanks
Jim Nussle
Chief Executive Officer, AMERICA’S CREDIT UNIONS. Our mission is to advocate for and advance an environment where credit unions thrive.
As a habit—especially over the past 18 months—I try to remain thankful about the blessings in my life. But this week is always a special occasion to reflect, appreciate, and look ahead.
As someone who was a credit union believer long before this pandemic, I’m thankful for this movement that puts people over profit, Main Street over Wall Street, and the member above all else.
I’m also thankful for:?
I wish you a safe, restful, and happy Thanksgiving.?
Hope Credit Union CEO named Heinz Award winner
Congratulations to Hope Credit Union President/CEO Bill Bynum, who was recognized with a Heinz Award for his efforts to combat “the extent to which factors such as race, gender, birthplace and wealth limit one’s ability to prosper.” Bill is an outstanding example of the credit union difference in action and deserves this outstanding recognition.

Project Storm Break helps Haitian CUs stay open
Shout out to the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, whose Project Storm Break helped six Haitian credit unions get back to serving their members after the August earthquake. The grant was issued to the World Council of Credit Union’s affiliate member organization in Haiti, which used it to buy and distribute emergency tents, IT supplies, and other operational equipment to the six credit unions located near the epicenter.
