Time to Get To Work!

Welcome Back to a New School Year,

The Bergen County Association of School Administrators, representing the school superintendents and other central office staff of Bergen County’s 76 school districts and 138,00 students, welcomes all of our student, families, faculty and staff members back to another school year. Every September our schools reopen after their summer breaks to welcome all of our students and invites them to grow and learn alongside our staff members.  

As president of this outstanding organization, I am humbled by our strong legacy of amazing work across Bergen County and cognizant of the tradition of excellence that we are a part of.

Today,  I wanted to speak to you about that tradition.  We are all familiar with family traditions, passed from generation to generation, that serve to pull members closer together.  Along with our district-level traditions, Bergen County through the BCASA has a strong tradition of collegiality, support, and innovation for all of Bergen’s school.

Through these traditions we create a bond between districts, and strive to care for each other like family. Looking out for each other and making sure to help when the need arises. From the tradition of the BCASA, we see those traditions extend into our respective districts. We see new families, filled with hope and excitement, moving into our communities, and we draw inspiration and energy from a desire to serve them well. Bergen County is not just a place where we live or where our students excel, it is a community of districts where all school community members - staff, teachers, student, administrators , and parents - are offered the opportunity to be their very best selves.

This is my Twelfth year as the Superintendent of Schools for the Harrington Park School District and each year I’ve been amazed by things we have done as a county.  To keep this spirit of tradition alive I ask that you do two things this year:

(1) We Listen!

Listen to the children and communities we serve.  Listen to the inner voice that drives our moral compass. Listen, to our loved ones who watch over us when we don’t.

(2) We lift!  

We continue to lift our communities to higher levels where students find success.  Lift our fellow BCASA members through support and encouragement as our success as a group is a success of all.

Every year our tradition is we gather back here in September and recommit ourselves to the faith of this county because at the end of the day we are committing to the children we serve.
