The time to get Vaccinated is NOW
Let's get business started again by getting vaccinated
It is true Australia is an island nation, but we live in a global economic environment and we need to open our borders begin trade, begin travel (business and leisure), and begin tourism to not only ensure our way of life, but ensure that we thrive as an economic and business community in responsible and safe manner. That's the key reason I went and got my first dose of Astra Zeneca vaccine last week, because I want to see our country open up.
Was I concerned? Definitely, so I informed myself, not on social media, not on hysteria anti vacs websites, but I quickly read the medical literature which outlined the risks and the benefits of being vaccinated and specifically the Astra Zeneca vaccine. The facts are that there have been 24 blood clotting cases in 2 Million cases, with one unfortunate death. I then assessed my risk factor being 0.001% chance of a blood clot and realised I had more chance of walking across the street and getting hit by a car or getting salmonella poisoning at my local takeaway restaurant that I did of getting COVID-19 blood clots associated with the vaccine. There are risks in everyday life, in Australia 1,106 people died on our roads last year, but we are not banning vehicles, instead there are safety measure in place to manage the risk.
The elimination strategy is not a strategy, it is a hope, and unless the entire world has an elimination strategy, which it's clear that it does not, it will never be achieved. We have to learn to live with this monitor it and manage it in a successful way and using vaccinations, so that soon COVID-19 will be like the flu, (and yes people died of the flu in 2019, 255 Australians died of H3N2 influenza strain) and we live with it carefully.
I'm no saint, I'm just trying to encourage everyone to use a little bit of common sense, move away from hysteria and hysterical points of view. As educated people in Australia, inform yourselves about the right decisions to make, assess the risks and get vaccinated. We are safe one the isolated island, but we need to open up our borders.
Go get vaccinated.

3 年Had mine last week. Was unwell for 24 hours but all good now. Doesn’t matter which vaccine - just do it.

3 年Couldn’t agree more Darrin. I am booked in for my AZ jab this afternoon. There is more risk in driving to the appointment than the vaccine. Let’s get vaccinated all.

3 年My only issue with the vaccination rollout is why hasn’t the government been able to get different vaccines. For example, the Serbian government had been able to procure the Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna vaccines as well as the vaccines from China and Russia. This allows the country to get vaccinated quicker and people would have a choice of which vaccine to get.
