Time to Get Led

Yea, and amen!

As disciples of Christ, we have been given spiritual authority, as well as differing influential authority, territories, and people whom we somehow impact.

Foremost, we are leaders of self who must diligently pursue our Creator to understand our fearfully and wonderfully made purpose, for it was He that made us bit by bit, sculpting nothing into something and can advise us as to how we are to use life to glorify Him (Psalm 139:13-16; Isaiah 43:7).??

●???? We must study the Bible, the book of our life instruction, family values, and our spiritual heritage.

●? ? ?We must grasp that we are created in His image but still imperfect and unable to lead responsibly unless we seek Him,?Who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us?(Ephesians 3:20).

●???? We must each choose to develop ourselves and grow according to His word, will, and way and continue to allow God Himself… to sanctify (set apart as holy) us entirely (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

We must be a light, excellently “lit,” as today’s world might describe, to illuminate the truth of God’s word and the teachings of Jesus Christ. However, we must first be and remain led by the Lord so that our eyes, as the candle of our body, maintain good light for our whole “house,” our ensuing thoughts and actions are always informed and guided by Him, and we are the earthly leadership we were created to be.

●???? Influential: spiritually, provincially, publicly, and otherwise, to demonstrate who Christ is by walking in the good works prepared for us (Ephesians 2:10)

●???? Inspirational: serving, humble in our dealings, being an example (Matthew 20: 25-28; 1 Peter 5: 1-11)

●???? Sensational: shifting the culture of our territory (marriage, household, family, church, community, work team, and organization) by lifting Him; looking and acting like His child whom He has put in charge, stirring interest, raising curiosity, and let the Lord do the rest (1 Corinthians 3: 6-9)

Even the world recognizes leadership mentoring as a best practice for developing leaders to maximize their strengths, identify and improve in challenging areas, and prepare for the future.

In looking at effective approaches the world might often use in leadership development, we can see that our Father laid the foundation here, too. As disciples of Christ, we have the advantage of His super on top of humankind’s natural:

The world says…

●???? Set clear goals and expectations.

●???? Cultivate mentor-mentee trust.

●???? Reflect; seek feedback; check in.

God’s Children…

●???? Use the detailed instructions of His holy word and never hesitate to ask Him to clarify.

●???? Take advantage of our 24/7 access through spending time and walking with Him, praying, reading our Bible, following Christ

●???? Assess our obedience, connection to God, and fruit-bearing status (John 15).

●???? Through the lens of His word and the guiding response of the Holy Spirit, check-in, chew on what we hear, and adjust ourselves accordingly.

●???? Course-correct! We have grace and room to recognize our sins and even our missteps and repent. Wonderfully, our Father realigns, restores us, and recovers ground on our behalf.?

We were undoubtedly created to be lit leaders: excellent, light-bearing, world-changing, and all the while God-glorifying.

The key is this:? We can only be lit if we are led by the Lord Himself, by His Spirit, and using His word and the exemplifying teachings of His Son.
