Two years ago in Dubai on this day i did an event as a favor to a friend. It was a last minute gig so i had no idea what i was signing up for!. The brief was simple enough, It's going to be a panel discussion followed by some presentations and Q&A. "WHAT COULD GO WRONG".
So i reached at the venue on time and met with my friend (The innocent looking guy to my left in the picture) @Venkatesh Ganesh, He gave me an itinerary and flow of the event and introduced me to the host of the event Litsa Francis . Our interaction was brief and as follows
Me: Hi, It's my first time doing a panel discussion so i don't know much.
Litsa: Hello, Me too!
Off to a great start!!
We had a tight schedule and a packed hall to manage and the two people who are supposed to do the managing are well for the lack of better words "Clueless".
To cut the long story short " Everything that could go wrong did go wrong".
The guest arrived late, the panelists where scattered, the discussions went on forever, the presentation was dragged (with car analogies and so on), and it was pandemonium.
I wasn't able to sit for a minute and was moving like a ping pong ball.
Litsa was trying to keep the panels on schedule and at one point i saw smoke coming out of Venki's head.
It was a hectic day to say the least. From 8 AM to 11 PM till the event ended it was a fire fight.
BUT!! IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE.
All the stress, exhaustion and run around was worth it in the end, as the show concluded and everybody had a smile on their face (May be due to the open Bar IDK).
I became friends with this energetic, kind and cute couple Angela Meah (PhD) and Tim Chambers who are so passionate about their work and each other. I met lots of different professionals from around the world. All in one place to share and connect with each other.
It felt like being part of something bigger than myself. I am not saying it's Profound, but it felt like it. Me being part of it felt right, a sense of comfort and satisfaction.
At the end of that day an elderly gentlemen came to me and thanked me for the helping him during the event. Till date i can't express the feeling i got in that movement.
All the exhaustion all the stress melted away with those two words.
It's been 2 years since that day. A lot has changed. I moved back to India, Litsa went on to host more shows, Venki started a new chapter in his life.
But today when i send a Buenos Dias to Angela Meah (PhD) she told me that it's been two years since that day and i told her, "it felt like last week".
So what i am trying to say is my dear friends is that, "If you are passionate about what you do and if you have couple of good people around you, then you will never Work a day in your life. You will be busy living it.
Thank you all who have made me the man i am today and i wish to be there for you come what may.
Love you all & God Bless
