Time Flies...
Proof that work and fun can be combined!

Time Flies...

Wow. So it turns out the old saying 'time flies when you're having fun' might actually be true!?(Above is a picture of me at the WPM Annual Conference in 2012 and our 2012 Olympics-themed quiz night - one of many particularly memorable events over the years.)

Friday marked the end of a 25+ year 'journey' for me at WPM, the company I set up back in 1996.?This represents pretty much my whole adult and working life, so it feels somewhat momentous if a little surreal.?However, I am sure that now is the right time for me to hand over the reins and start a new chapter.

You'll be pleased to know, especially if you're a regular LinkedIn user, that this isn't a plug for my 'plan B' or an offer of my services.?It is simply an unashamed 'thank you' to the amazing colleagues, clients and partners I have had the privilege of working with over the years.

It would be impossible to try to thank you all individually - I tried writing something but ?it ran to many pages and sounded like an overly long Oscar acceptance speech!??So, for now, I just want to say how genuinely grateful I am to everyone who helped shape both me personally and the services provided by the incredibly talented group of people I have had the privilege of working with at WPM over the last couple of decades.

The UK higher education sector really is unique and one of the most rewarding areas I can imagine working in. Things don't always move quickly, but it is amazing what can be achieved when you all focus and pull together. More importantly, the people are second-to-none and an absolute pleasure and honour to work with.?I have loved being able to bring groups together and partake in the energy and enthusiasm of like-minded people sharing experiences and developing solutions.

My special thanks of course goes to the WPM team.?I'm very proud not just of the people who work at WPM now, but also all those who helped us get to the company to where it is today. ?I could not hope for a better, kinder and more passionate team.?Thank you for all your commitment, support and enthusiasm.?

To anyone who has got this far in this post, I am sure our paths will cross again, whether socially or professionally (in our world the two often go hand in hand).?I am very excited, as always, about the potential opportunities for the future (and as you would expect I have a number of ideas buzzing around my head) but right now I think I’ll be spending a bit more time doing the school run and, hopefully, get in some snowboarding before the snow all melts in the Alps…

I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I read this post! Very best wishes for the future. You are one of the best people I ever worked with - a business super star and a great friend to know. I highly recommend retirement, although I’m sure you’ve got high flying plans. Good luck in all that you do and keep in touch. What will the WPM conference be like without your statistical presentation?!
