Time to experiment

Time to experiment

Over the course of the last weeks I have been conducting some experiments on #LinkedIn.  My goal was to increase reach and engagement on my posts. Like many people I have been using suggestions from my network but you see the real impact is when you stop using some of these techniques.

I would like to share some results from 3 tests I have run:

Experiment #1: Over the Christmas period I posted a video every day and noticed a big increase in views and engagement. Over the last week I posted a several videos but did not tag anyone and the reach and engagement dropped to less than 30%!

COver the course of the last weeks I have been conducting some experiments on #LinkedIn.  My goal was to increase reach and engagement on my posts

Experiment #2: 2 weeks ago posted a number of #LinkedIn related posts but I changed my tone of voice from “nice” to “badass” using swear words and harsh expressions and I saw my engagement and reach skyrocket! 500%+ for those posts

Conclusion: Bad languages sells! But use it carefully.

Experiment #3: A few weeks ago I posted a quote and #LinkedIn tip without tagging anyone or asking for support to share. I noticed that my quotes had 150% more engagement and reach while my LinkedIn Content posts were slashed to under 50% of their usual reach.

Conclusion: The algorithm does not recognize good content but only by likes & comments whatever they are.

Experiment #4: Over the course of the last few months when I got a message that someone had a new job, I sent them a message to ask whether LinkedIn played an active role in them finding this new opportunity. Many people actually answered me with their feedback.

Conclusion: In about 57% of all cases LinkedIn played a meaningful role. Yet another reason to keep your profile up to date and professional.

The experiments continues with some other variation and results will be coming here too. So what have you tested and what to share with the LinkedIn community?

Hey Mic, interesting... I wonder did the increased reach with foul language and swearing raise your SSI too?

Interesting results Mic Adam and shows that the "conventional" wisdom does not always work in practice. Alongside that the Algorithm seems to adapt quickly to the latest gaming techniques and these are often short lived... Provocation is the capital P in PR!
