Time to execute the rainy day plan
I couldn't make it to work yesterday, along with so many others, no trains no buses and even if I walked the 7 miles in the snow, I would have had no clients, as they were all tucked up at home
I found myself with the type of time on my hands I never get, the type of time that you can get your teeth stuck into something and work on it all day. The type of task I could do while watching tv in the background
I don't have children, just a dog and it was enough walking him when I needed a break or going out in the garden with a measuring tape, reading 9-11 inches of snow
I wanted to make the most of the day, it was still a working day for me and felt lucky that I might be able to dip into my PM system 'Asana' and look at all the things I'd dumped in there to do
I have a burpee challenge starting today (you're welcome to join us) and it can be done from home, so I decided to get my head around the social media software I use 'Meet Edgar' and plan out the whole month. It took all day but now I know what I'm doing on it, future campaigns will be set up a lot faster. I went to bed with a contended sigh that I had been productive
90 posts were written accompanied by relevant photos and videos, it was a feat and now I can let it run
Today I'm tackling SEO, also on my rainy day list, I have around a thousand webpages across my six websites and none of them have been updated with key words or whatever else SEO means. However, today I will find out...
I could have wallpapered the living room or read a book or two (also on my rainy day list), the world was my oyster
What I'm trying to say is, you need to have a rainy day list in the first place and execute it on the days that you want to be productive and not wasting time on google or something more exciting
It falls under planning and organising, I'm a little bit obsessed with planning but it's only going to work for you if you execute the plans you put in place!
I'm not going to SEO a thousand pages today but I should be able to crack how to do it and make some headway, leaving me with a daily task of say 10 pages a day until they are done
I have my own business, actually more than one, I don't have staff or departments to do these things for me but I do enjoy it. It doesn't have to be work related, another rainy day task I have is to wash all the woodwork in the house because I have a dog who shakes mud everywhere (I might do that one in between the SEO breaks today) I love cleaning too, it's very therapeutic
Do you have a rainy day plan?
What do you have on it?
When will you execute it?
