Time To Execute!

Time To Execute!

Time to execute!

For the last 30 days here at Zenith Home Loans, most of us have been working on establishing goals for the new year. And now that we have these goals written down and in place, the challenge becomes execution. This is where most people fail when it comes to reaching their goals. People who take the time to write down their goals have great intentions. But they usually suck at the execution part.

So today, I'm going to share some strategies that will improve your odds of success in achieving the goals you've set.

First, you must ensure your goal is specific and measurable. For example, a goal to lose weight must be more precise and easier to measure. On the other hand, a goal of losing 20 pounds by a specific date in the future is very specific and easily measurable.

Second, you have to know your "why." I've written about this subject many times in the past, but knowing why exactly it's important to you to lose 20 pounds and what it will mean for you to do so, can be the critical motivation needed to remain focused as you work towards achieving that goal.

Third, have a plan in writing. One of my favorite quotes from Antoine De Saint-Exupery is:?"a goal without a plan is just a wish."?If you want to lose 20 pounds, you need a plan for what you're going to eat and what you're not going to eat, along with your exercise plan. Undoubtedly, much more would go into losing 20 pounds, but you get my point. Without a written plan, it?is?just a wish.?

Fourth, create accountability. Having your goal framed and visible to you to read regularly is the first requirement. Declaring publicly your intent to reach your goal would be the second. When you publicly let the world know your intention to reach your goal, you've created self-accountability, which is the best kind. Having an accountability partner you have to speak to regularly about your progress towards your goal would be third.

Fifth, check in with yourself regularly on your progress towards your goals. That means to schedule time in your calendar at a minimum weekly, depending on the goal, perhaps daily, as to whether or not you have actually executed on the things in your plan to achieve your goal. In the example of losing 20 pounds, you should probably check in daily whether or not you followed the nutrition plan you laid out for yourself to reach your goal, whether or not you did the workout you had planned, whether or not you drank all the water that you were supposed to drink, etc.

That fifth strategy is usually the make-or-break issue for most people. But unfortunately, not keeping track of whether you're doing the things necessary to achieve your goal is how most of these goals fall by the wayside.

There you have five strategies to dramatically improve your odds of success in achieving the goals you've set for yourself in 2023. I'd wish you good luck, but I know it's not about being lucky. It's about doing the work. So instead, I'll say, to your success!

Quote of the week:

Anyone can do it, not everyone will. Will you?
