Late Friday afternoon, here in the southern Scottish hills. The signs of autumns arrival can be seen across the glen with leaves falling and the golden colours stretching as far as the eye can see, across the fields and forests. The sunshine and rain dance together in the breeze, while the rivers flow faster after several days of storms.
As I see the fast currents in the river I notice how quickly the days, weeks and months pass us. Moments in time which never come back and which leave us with memories. I heard this week of the sudden passing of someone whom I spent time working with when I was a youth football coach 10 years ago, he was in his 40’s. I also read of someone who was known to me losing his life in a car accident, leaving his wife and young children without a husband and father.
These events always bring to my awareness the fragility of our existence on this planet, and how we sometimes take it for granted. None of us knows how long we will be here, yet for many of us, we spend time and energy in holding onto emotions and memories that stop us from being present and enjoying the quality of life we really want.
As your weekend starts, a few questions for you to ponder...
Where am I settling for less than what I want in life? Whom do I need to forgive or apologise to? What can I do today to start living life the way I want to?
Life is a gift and every day we get the opportunity to open its present to us and as we look in the mirror we can smile at the joy it brings us.
Light and Blessings on your weekend ??
