Time is the one resource we can never reclaim. In our busy lives, filled with responsibilities and demands, finding time to train can seem impossible.
Yet, as Christian men, we know that stewardship of time is a biblical principle. Our Lord calls us to make the most of every opportunity (Ephesians 5:15-16).
Today, I urge you to rethink how you use your time in fitness. Let's dive into the biblical principle of being time-efficient in our training, turning every minute into a moment that honors God.
Doing The Most With Your Time Is Different From Doing What Makes Up The Most Of Your Time
There's a crucial difference between being busy and being productive. Many of us fall into the trap of thinking that longer workouts mean better results.
I can admit that I was in that trap for many years.
But in truth, it's not the duration but the quality of your training that counts.
Consider Ecclesiastes 3:1, which reminds us that there is a time for everything. Your goal should be to maximize the effectiveness of each workout. This means focusing on high-impact exercises that deliver the most benefit in the shortest time.
For instance, compound movements like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses engage multiple muscle groups, providing a full-body workout in less time.
Additionally, plan your workouts with intention. Instead of meandering through your routine, structure each session with clear objectives. Use a timer to limit rest periods and maintain intensity. This approach not only saves time but also boosts your workout efficiency.
Productivity in Your Training is Greater Than Being Busy in Your Workouts
It's easy to confuse activity with progress.
Many fitness enthusiasts and influencers that you may see on Instagram and TikTok spend hours in the gym per week.
Yet, many people see minimal results when they try to do the same as the fitness enthusiasts and influencers. Why?
Because they prioritize the quantity of the workouts that the fitness influencer displayed over the quality of the workout, recovery, and progression for the individual.
Proverbs 21:5 tells us that the plans of the diligent lead to profit. This wisdom applies to our fitness as well.

Instead of logging endless hours on the treadmill, focus on activities that yield the greatest return. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), for example, burns more calories in less time and improves cardiovascular health.
Remember, productivity is about smart work, not hard work.
Time is Your Most Vital Resource
In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus shares the parable of the talents, teaching us to use our resources wisely. Time is perhaps our most precious resource. How we spend it reflects our priorities and stewardship.
Start by setting clear, achievable goals for your fitness journey. Break them down into daily and weekly targets. This not only keeps you focused but also makes efficient use of your time.
Additionally, embrace the power of routine.
A workout plan, on its own, is not a routine. It’s a routine tool. A routine also includes other variables that establish a consistent workout schedule that fits seamlessly into your day, your week, and your month.
Whether it's early morning or late evening, consistency is key. A well-planned routine ensures that you stay committed without feeling overwhelmed.
Lastly, avoid distractions. In today's digital age, it's easy to get sidetracked by phones, TVs, and other interruptions. Create a dedicated workout space and time, free from distractions.
This focus allows you to give your best effort in the shortest amount of time.
It’s time to transform your approach to fitness. Move beyond the myths of longer workouts and busier routines.
Embrace the biblical principle of time efficiency.
Today, commit to honoring God with your time. Start integrating these principles into your fitness journey.
Remember, every minute is a gift from God. Use it wisely and watch your efforts multiply.
Honor God with your time, and let your efficient training be a testament to His wisdom and grace.

4 个月I agree that we should spend quality time in the gym and not quanity time in the gym. You also affirmed my feeling of mainly using compound exercises.

4 个月Bodily exercise profits little, but godliness is profitable to all things... ?? Good post sir. I am not contradicting the validity of anything you have written. There is wisdom in your words. Provided we keep our exercise within the framework of God's will for us... As an avid competitive runner. I spend 45 minutes a day running, and add planks, lunges and upper body workout 2 to 3 days per week. I often try to witness the gospel of love to other runners and gym goers. I also find myself in fervent prayers while running. I find the heightened clarity exercise delivers allows for maximizing the time spent for simultaneous bodily and spiritual exercise.
