The Time Will Come
Here we are, one more trip around the sun, back again at the beginning of the holiday season. It's a time for self reflection, thanksgiving, forgiveness, and new dreams.
My present to you is, YOU.
Here is a poem that expresses this sentiment exactly. Enjoy!
LOVE AFTER LOVE
by Derek Walcott
The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.
Much love and light,
Susan

2 年I had to read on the run this morning, but am back now to take in ever so intentionally: your beautiful words, the message and meaning of the poem along with the image (that is so stunning!). Thank-you, Susan! Wishing you and your family a beautiful, holiday weekend!
