Time for Change

Time for Change

It is a very surreal moment to make this announcement, but today is Janvi and my last day at Elevate/Halebury.

After 13 years, dreaming, creating, developing, nurturing and eventually selling a legal business, at the start of this year Janvi and I decided to step down and to start new chapters in our lives. Today is our last day and we could not have imagined the world circumstances in which we would say goodbye to the business we created.

I decided to step down for personal reasons. After years of juggling a growing business and my family, I now want some time to focus purely on them, especially my young son, and getting to know myself in a new way. I am incredibly proud of the contribution we have made to the legal profession, to the flexible working journey and to the role of women and ethnic minorities in business and in law. Now I am ready to pause, reflect and attune myself with my purpose.

Since transitioning Halebury to Elevate, it has been phenomenal to see the business launching in Australia, become open to a wider pool of legal talent and to build our amazing legal team who work with professionalism, fun and energy to deliver flexible legal resourcing solutions of the highest standard every day for customers. It has been one of my greatest pleasures working with our team in HQ and our team of outstanding lawyers. I look forward to watching the flex team continue to flourish as part of the Elevate family.

Thank you to all who have been a part of this journey, the names are too many to list and mention including family members, employees past and present, consultant lawyers, mentors, suppliers, business partners, competitors, and an untold number of supporters, networks, and wonderful human beings I have had the pleasure of connecting with along the way.

This is a time like no other for the human race. It seems strange and yet so right to me that right now the world is collectively being forced to pause and reflect, to spend time with families and to appreciate those who care for and offer kindness and healing to others. My own family has been affected by the virus, so I am acutely aware of the intensity with which people are working to care for our loved ones, to find a solution, to deliver us food and essential services and to keep our economy going. When we emerge from this, my hope is that it will be into a world where we value these people and services with better pay and working conditions. This will be a legacy we can be proud of.

Janvi and I have posted many times about our friendship and partnership over the years and this will be a major change for us both as we embark on separate adventures. A special thank you to Janvi, for being a friend, mentor, fantastic human being and inspiration. Your drive, energy and kindness is infectious and you make an impact everyday.

Right now, I do not have a particular new role to step into. I am looking forward to the rest. I will continue to support other female founders, dance organisations, ethnic minority businesses and education.

There’s an exciting new chapter ahead for all of us. For today I wish you all well, stay safe, stay home and stay well.
