Time for change: Daniel goes OTT*

Time for change: Daniel goes OTT*

Leaving something that you built from the beginning as part of a team of very talented people and supported by equally great partners is not easy.

What I did every day for the last 10 years at Swisscom TV was more than a job. Because honestly: What's better than building and improving a product that is out there in the living rooms of people, where it is hopefully loved and used every day? It has been a great ride with its fair share of blood, sweat and tears, but also a lot of fun.

From the first standalone operator app store with a decent selection of apps to the first UHD/HDR capable operator set top box with a Swiss German-capable voice search to one of the first set top boxes with far field voice integration and own voice assistant, there were a lot of products we were able to think up, design, build, launch and lifecycle. My team can be proud of what we achieved over the years!

It truly is a privilege to have been part of this very successful story?of a product mass-tailored for a small but very demanding market, from the first years of rapid growth, brave steps forward and a lot of improvisation to the more recent years of fighting for customers in a saturated market, with a more structured and careful approach.

I had the opportunity to do what I loved and to learn, grow, gain experience, and build a network during those years. What made it even more interesting was to be able to travel to and work with our partners all over the world, in Asia, the US and Europe, getting to know many of them personally. Some of them even became friends.

For the overwhelming majority of the time, this role was an absolute dream job. A lot of the people I worked with are more than co-workers. But I am convinced that to stay "alive", a company, team and person needs to adapt, change, and evolve.

As a result of this, I have left Swisscom TV and Swisscom, a company that I've worked for in a lot of different roles for more than 20 years, to start with something new.

A few days ago, I have joined the team of Sky Switzerland in Neuchatel to support them in the role of "Product Management Director".

What is currently happening in Sky Switzerland and in the market makes it feel like it will continue to be an exciting growth story, where I can hopefully contribute my part to make the Sky product even better for our customers. I had a great first few days, meeting a team of dedicated, super motivated and very friendly, welcoming people. There is even someone I truly enjoyed working with a few years ago already (Nicolas).

Watch out for more cool things coming out of Neuchatel soon ;-)

Thanks to all of you and let's stay in touch!
