What is your Planning and Productivity Technique?

Some days, you have it all put together. Other days, uncertainty of thought and actions creep in. In all these, as time unfolds, one cannot help but assess the impact of the days, seasons and responsibilities.

How do you break down chunks of responsibilities and to-dos daily for execution?

You know when you look at your to-do list and it stares back at you like an accusation pointing the finger of procrastination right in your face? No, may be it is just me.!

The most organized mortals sometimes get overwhelmed with their ever-increasing to-do's that they just do not know where to start or how to prioritize their proverbial task.


Do you have a challenge with Procrastination? Try Time boxing...

Do you have a deadline on a Project? Time boxing is for You..

Do you think your Productivity has been put to a Test through a Project or Promotion with a sense that, you have thrown your highly organized schedule off kilter? Time boxing is for You.

Finally, do you consider putting more structure and be consistent with your daily Task & or future activities? Time blocking & Time boxing are for You.


Time boxing is used commonly as a guide to accomplish set out activities or a task.

Timeboxing is, deciding how much time you will spend on a certain task or project. Future or present projects. Eg:?3 hours, 2 weeks.

For example: you are working on writing a book, a research or project which you keep procrastinating, time boxing your outline and scheduling your content writing can aid accomplish it if execution is properly done.

You are specific on time which may come with a deadline. For instance: 2 hours, 24 hours, 1 week, 1 month.


You are not doing between 1 & 2 hours, 2-3 weeks, no flexibility on timing but specific on the time duration. In some instance, you specify where you will get it done aside the how. That is the Venue.


It is a good Time management and planning tool.


While Time boxing is sometimes seen as an attribute of perfectionists, it generally helps everyone avoid distractions. Unlike Time blocking, it does not come with much flexibility and may be considered as Hard.

Aiding avoids distractions while working at a task and encouraging Focus on the other hand is Nice.

Once timeliness and deadlines are associated, one cannot help but focus to accomplish a task which have dedicated timeliness.


Time blocking in lieu is, organizing your day by scheduling every aspect and specific time of the day. Breaking your daily and weekly activities & to-dos into bite sizes for execution. Comes with some pliability and open duration as compared to Time boxing.

Time blocking comes with coffee breaks, Time allotted for checking emails, checking social media account, meetings and doing all the little and big activities that are not directly connected to a particular task.


Currently, many of us don't enjoy stringent activities and lifestyles as there is influx of emotional and physical stress.

We prefer agile and fun activities.


To this effect, as you Timebox:

1. Mentally, don't see it as Punishment. Mindset matter

2. Infuse music, dance, work out or anything you love which pushes you to be active in your Time boxing process to make it healthier for you

3. Enjoy the Process. Unfortunately, a good plan well executed will set you apart.

It gets better when you learn to enjoy it even if it is difficult.??


It is important to get an Accountability partner through Timeboxing when it is becoming difficult. Someone who cares to assist keep you & the project in check.??

Have a Project in mind you are yet to execute, want to keep a more structured day and ensure task is duly accomplished? Start with Time blocking by planning your day. Include time to keep you in check.

Do not eliminate the casual activities that add to your day. Coffee breaks, phone screen times and phone calls moments that make your day.


For that daring Project you cannot afford to miss executing at a particular time, try Timeboxing and be conscious about being true to it. The discipline to execute even when you are tired or do not feel like it.


The Urgent-Important Matrix can be of great assistance where you schedule activities daily based on (Urgent-Do, Not Urgent-Eliminate, Important-Schedule & Not Important-Delegate)

You measure and review to appreciate progress & work on weak areas.


Some Simple Reasons You Should Time box:

??Keeps you sane as you clear Projects on your plate

???A way of Taking Care of You. You become happy when you accomplish certain task

???A tool to aid execute things that Matter to You

??Keeps You Focused and satisfied

??Helps Avoids distractions


You can Time block or Time box by writing it in a diary, on your phone, tablet or laptop. There are also Apps you can utilize to get by with Task.

Common is Google Calendar for most people. There are other apps you can google to use based on one you deem fit and comfortable.


I am learning to be deliberate about Time boxing key activities I have set out to accomplish.?It is my hope that, what i envisage to do before year ends will come to fruition.??
