In his book, The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry writes that,
“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
This excerpt has become very popular, especially with regards to goal setting.
In the context of productivity, I will take this further to say,
“A goal not bound by time will remain a wish.”
To get things properly done, we must ensure our goals are kept within the boundary of specific time periods.
Think of projects as oceans. Without some type of boat or vessel, or great swimming skills, you can drown in them. To stay afloat, you’d need to arm yourself with time blocks.
Time blocks are dedicated slots, openings, or windows you set to work on particular projects throughout the course of your day.
With time blocking, you simply allocate dedicated time slots to each of your projects. You then do project-specific tasks during assigned time slots. This helps you minimise distractions, maximise focus, and ultimately, improve your productivity.
Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology validates the effectiveness of time blocking. Participants who employed this technique accomplished significantly more tasks within a set period than those who did not.
The essence of productivity lies in singular focus.
Completing one task before moving on to the next ensures optimal efficiency. Time blocks facilitate this approach.
They help you tackle tasks sequentially with undivided attention.
Let me know if this helps you. Alright then. Do take care.
